We live just inside I95 (aka Route 128) at 46 Burlington St, Lexington, MNA.

There are four ways I can tell you how to get to our house:
  1. Via Online Map
  2. When there is a lot of traffic
  3. The Simple Way
  4. Via the T

Via Online Map

When there is a lot of traffic

Coming from North or West

If coming from the North or West, I recommend getting onto I95/Rt 128, getting off at Exit 31A heading toward Lexington Center. As you get off at Exit 31A, turn left onto Simons Rd, and then follow Simons about 5 blocks as it curves at the end first to the right and then to the left. You will come out at a T intersection of Simonds Rd. and Burlington Street. Turn right onto Burlington St. Our house is on the right, about a block and a half. You can recognize it from the pictures above and from a line of wagon wheels on the near edge of the property as you drive from Simonds Rd. See the instructions below the detailed map below for hints on parking.

Coming from South or East

If coming from the South or East, I recommend getting onto Route 2 (Point A below), and then getting off at Waltham St, heading into Lexington Center. On Waltham St you will pass several lights, and then turn left at the T intersection of Waltham St and Massachusetts Ave (Point B). From that point, follow the maps below.

Point A: Rindge Ave and Alewife Brook Parkway, Cambridge
Point B: Lexington Center, T Intersection of Waltham St and Massachusetts Ave.
Point C: Our House, 46 Burlington St., Lexington, MA
Point D: Exit 31A from I 95 / Rt 128

Point C: Our House, 46 Burlington St., Lexington, MA
Point D: Exit 31A from I 95 / Rt 128

From Lexington Center, on Massachusetts Ave, bear right at the Minuteman Statue (marked 225 below) and then shortly there after, (200 feet) bear right again onto Hancock St. Proceed down Hancock St. until you come to a Y intersection. Bear to the left continuing on Hancock St. Go past the Cooidge Ave intersection. You will next come to a traffic circle. If you go into the circle at 6 o'clock, you want to go out at 1 o'clock onto Burlington St. Our house is the 7th house on the left as you travel down Burlington St. You can recognize it from the pictures above and from a line of wagon wheels on the far edge of the property as you drive down Burlington St. See the instructions below the detailed map below for hints on parking.

The Simple Way

The simple way to get to our house is to take Route 2 to I95/Rt 128 and head North. Get off I95/Rt 128 at Exit 31A. Then proceed as if you are coming from the North or West.

Via the T

There are two basic ways to get to our house via the T.

First, you can take the T to Alewife Station on the Red Line and we will pick you up from there and bring you out to our house. It isn't a big deal for us and we do it all the time. Please give us a call before you leave so that we can properly time picking you. When you get to Alewife, go to the Passenger Pickup Area and we will look for you.

The second, much more (too?) complex method is to take the T to Alewife Station and then get on the 76 or 62 bus. These buses operation Monday through Friday on a fairly frequent basis, Saturday on a less frequent schedule with no service on Sunday. Get off in Lexington Center and give us a call and we will come and get you. Click here for the schedules for the 76 and 62 bus routes.

If you really want to take the T the entire way, Monday through Friday you can hop on the #5 Lexpress bus which leaves Lexington Center every hour on the hour. This bus goes right past our house. Tell the driver that you want to get off at the intersection of Burlington St and Readcoat Lane.

      Latitude, Longitude: 42.487911342767674, -72.97736048698425

Route 2 Approach

Route 2 approach (click mao for larger view.=)
If you take route 2, reset your odometer at the traffic light at the base of the Rt 2 hill at Alewife T station (green box 1 above). Follow Rt 2 west. At mile 85.6 (yellow box 3 above) Rt 2 shares the road with I91 south for 3.3 miles and then separates from off I91 at 88.9 miles (yellow box 4 above). Continue on Rt 2 10 more miles to Rt. 112 just past Shelburne Falls (99.0 miles, yellow box 5 above). Rt 112 is one of the prettiest roads on the trip. Enjoy it. Take Rt 112 south until you get to Rt. 9 in Goshen (112.9 miles, yellow box 6). At Rt. 9 turn RIGHT onto Rt 9 and go West. You will see a sign saying you have entered Cummington. Continue on Rt 9, past the Cummington Store on the left (Cow on roof) (119.9 miles, yellow box 7 above). Continue instructions from Old Creamery (Cummington Store) below.

Mass Turnpike (Route I90) Approach
Picture

If you take the Mass Turnpike (Interstate 90 West), reset your odometer at the intersection of Route 128 and Interstate 90 (green box 1 above). Follow Interstate 90 and get off at Exit 4, 78.8 miles (yellow box 2 above). Get on Interstate 91 North toward Holyoke or Northhampton. Get off at Exit 18, 90.8 miles (yellow box 3 above). At 91.0 miles turn LEFT to get onto US-5 (Mt. Tom Road). At 92.1, turn LEFT to get onto Rt 10 [also Rt 9]. At 92.4 continue STRAIGHT on Rt 9 towards Goshen (106.1). Continue on Rt 9 towards Cummington, past the Cummington Store on the left (Cow on roof) (112.9 miles, yellow box 4 above). Continue instructions from Old Creamery (Cummington Store) below.

Old Creamery (Cummington Store) Approach
Picture
Old Creamery (Cummington Store) Approach (click map for larger view)
Continue about 4.2 miles past the Old Creamery and you will see a Rest Area on your right (yellow box 6 above). Go past the Rest Area. Shortly you will go over a bridge. The road to our home is the next immediate LEFT turn, after the bridge (red box 7 above). If you continue going up the hill on Rt. 9, you've gone too far. Go down the road. We are the first clearing on the right, about 1000 feet. Enter the clearing to the right of the pine tree -- you will see the car track. Either drive up the driveway to the house or park in the clearing and walk up the driveway to the house.

Welcome!
