Shortly, Marsha and I will be taking off for the Ghost Army Secret War tour that has been organized by our friend Rick Beyer.  You can read more details about this at several places:
  • http://stephenambrosetours.com/uploads/SAHT_GhostArmy12.17.13-1388781889.pdf
  • http://stephenambrosetours.com/the-champagne-campaign
Here is an interactive map of the hotels, points of interest and route we will travel.
Suggestions: Although the map below is live and you can zoom in and out, the interactive experience will be a lot more pleasant if you click on the next to last icon in gray banner to have the map occupy the full screen.  Click on the icon under the map title at the right to see a list of hotels and points of interest.  Click on a point of interest to read more details.

These are images of film carriers for the Sony UY-S90 film scanner.  I am interested in the two components of the auto slide feed mechanism for the S90:  the first one below labeled "Auto slide carrier"  and the second auto slide feeder tray.

360° Video

I just purchased at $60 add-on for my iPhone which allows me to shoot 360° videos.  I haven't calibrated it yet, but out of the box it seems to work.  I knew that it would have trouble with focus and I need to do some calibration to improve that.  Of course this camera will continue to have limitations even after being calibrated, but it will give me a good idea of what you can and can't do with 360° video.
There are more impressive cameras that are about to appear for sale, including the 360cam by Giroptic (http://www.360.tv/) seen below

Extending Google Street View into the Home...

8/22/2014

Google has made it quite simple for individuals to tap into all of the sophisticated software that implements Google Street view -- as long as you can take 360° panoramas a.k.a. PhotoSpheres.  Here is my first attempt (done 2 months ago -- I'm better at it now) where I took a set of PhotoSpheres in Will's new condo with my Ricoh Theta and used the GoogleViews system to link them together for navigation.

I didn't get this quite right, but it shows the idea.  Fool around with it looking for double >> symbols.  From any view you should be able to drag the picture by clicking and holding your mouse and moving any direction.   Release to stop moving the image.
