One of my favorite films is Fitzcarraldo, a Werner Herzog film that I was introduced to by my friend Ned Shenton. This film, and a companion film, Burden of Dreams, about the making of Fitzcarraldo, are wacky stories about the Amazon, Opera, impossible goals, mystery, and darkness.
Fitzcardboardaldo, is an homage to Fitzcarraldo, done by artist Robin Frohardt, rendered in corrugated cardboard models. The companion piece, The Corrugation of Dreams is even funnier, with it's over dubbing of Werner Herzog's voice reflecting about the drama and angst of the Amazon and the jungle.
